Why is Walmart eliminating single-use plastic bags?

• Part of Walmart Canada's commitment to reducing single-use plastics.
• Goal to reduce distribution of plastic bags by 50% or more by 2025.
• No single-use plastic bags will be provided in-store or for online pickup/grocery orders.
• Customers are encouraged to bring their own bags or purchase reusable options at low cost.

Why no free boxes or paper bags?

• Paper and cardboard have a higher carbon footprint than plastic.
• Paper bags require strict quality control and can be recycled, but not ideal for all uses.
• Reusable bags are encouraged over single-use options.

Can customers recycle plastic bags at Walmart?

• Yes, plastic bag recycling receptacles are available in stores.
• Bags are recycled responsibly through a partner.

What happens for pickup orders?

• No plastic bags for Walmart Pickup and Grocery Pickup orders.
• Items will be placed in totes and transferred into customers' reusable bags/boxes or vehicles.
• Bulk items (e.g., meat, produce) will still use produce bags.
