Bipolar Bear

There are 5.7 million adults diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the U.S. alone. The author’s husband is one of them. “As a partner of someone with bipolar disorder, I understand firsthand the hardships in such a relationship. As parents, we jointly feel it's important for children to gain an early understanding of and comfort around discussing mental health.” Other than vague media references, she didn't know how it affected a life until she lived it. It was hard for her, as an adult, to understand at first. When she and her husband had a baby, they knew it was something they would want to teach him about, and they tried to think of the best way to do that. After searching for a children's book about the topic and didn't see one specifically regarding bipolar disorder, Victoria decided to write and illustrate this children's book for him.
