Willie Horton played 18 years in the major leagues, including a memorable 15 seasons with his hometown Detroit Tigers.One of the American League's top sluggers, Horton was a four-time All-Star and a member of the Tigers team that won the 1968 World Series.In 2000, the Tigers retired Horton's number 23 and unveiled a statue of his likeness at Comerica Park, a tribute to his on-field achievements as well as his efforts to promote peace during the 1967 Detroit riots.Horton has been with the Tigers' front office since 2003 and continues to serve Detroit through his involvement with numerous charities and racial equality initiatives.
