Why Are You So Quiet?

·         Myra Louise is tired of being asked why she’s so quiet. So she invents a machine that helps people listen to the world the way she does.

·         This story champions introversion and the value of being quiet and listening in our loud world.  For Myra Louise, being quiet means she’s an observer, an artist, an inventor. There’s nothing wrong with her; it’s other people who need to learn how to understand her way of being.

·         Jaclyn Desforges is a debut author; she was the winner of the 2018 PEN Canada Emerging Writer Award for one of her adult short stories and she has published poems in numerous journals. This is her first book.
