In The Rules Have Changed, a teenage boy is shocked to learn that a lot has changed in the three years he’s been away.  The book is set in a modern not-as-dystopian-as-one-might-think North American high school and is the author's commentary on the possible impact of the actions of the current US government. In this book themes of rebellion, governmental control and xenophobia are explored.
