Random Road

Geneva Chase is a veteran crime reporter whose battle with the bottle has cost her every major newspaper gig she's had. She's still got the chops, but is now reduced to writing for her small hometown newspaper, whose future is just as tenuous as her career. When a spectacularly brutal mass slaughter is committed in the privileged gated community of Sheffield, it's her last chance to redeem herself, and she throws herself into the story as if her life depends on it.

While investigating the crime Geneva struggles to remain sober and to resist her addiction to her married lover, a successful local attorney. As she navigates the choppy waters of her personal life, the story and her career hang in the balance.
