GENDER IDENTITY THEMES: Non-binary representation for middle graders--the main character is non-binary. Beth's pronouns are she/they and KC Oster is gender non-conforming. It is also connected to Anishinaabe culture, where there are no gendered pronouns.

NEXT GEN INDIGENOUS GRAPHIC NOVEL: The first generation was in response--dispellng myths, unearthing trauma. This is part of the next generation, sharing Indigenous worldviews in exciting and accessible ways.
