My Fate According to the Butterfly

When superstitious Sab sees a giant black butterfly, she knows that she's doomed. Sab is convinced that she has a week til her fate catches up with her -- on her 11th birthday! More than anything, Sab wants to be with her whole family when that happens. The only problem? Her older journalist sister, Nadine, and her father haven't spoken in years.

So Sab and her best friend come up with the most ultimate bucket list: from dyeing Sab's hair mermaid blue, to exploring the best food in the city. All things they need Nadine's help with... and that are designed to remind Nadine of good times she once had with their dad!

As the trio adventures through Manila, Sab becomes more convinced than ever that her fate is sealed when Nadine's journalistic ambitions land them in trouble. Her investigation has uncovered illegal activity, and it involves them in the dangerous reality of their city: Duterte's war on drugs. Was the Butterfly right? Perhaps Sab is in mortal danger after all!
