If a Tree Falls

In this book, young readers will learn about the history of deforestation around the world, what it means for the health of forests and what they can do to help preserve trees for future generations.   People around the world rely on products from trees every day, but what does our dependence on them mean for the health of forests and, ultimately, the planet? If A Tree Falls answers these questions.  From the burning of the Amazon in Brazil to the clear-cutting of old-growth trees in Western Canada, deforestation is making news around the world.   The author fought to protect old-growth forests in British Columbia more than 20 years ago. She’s also written four other books in the Orca Footprints series, including Deep Roots: How Trees Sustain Our Planet.   This year the (UN) International Day of Forests is being celebrated on March 21, 2020. This year’s theme is "Learn to Love Forests" and it highlights education as a tool for sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation. Canada’s National Tree Day is September 25, 2020.
