Just like skin, hair is covered with a hydrolipidic film that smooths the hair fiber and protects it from dehydration and external aggressors. When this film is altered by external factors (frequent brushing, use of heated styling tools, repeated coloring, prolonged sun exposure, etc.) or when the scalp does not produce enough sebum, the surface lipids become depleted. This causes the scales to lift and the hair fiber to dry out. As a result, hair becomes rough, dull, and loses its flexibility.
