TOURISM TRENDS:

Over 11.1 million tourists visited Montreal in 2017 U.S. residents made 24.4 million trips, either same-day or overnight, to Canada in 2018, up 0.5% from 2017. This was the fourth consecutive year of increased travel from the United States since 2014 and an increase of 20% over the four-year period. In 2018, Montreal was visited by more than 100,000 cruise passengers and for the first time in its history, Trudeau airport welcomed 19 million passengers in a single year. Thanks to a growing number of direct flights, Montreal and all of Quebec are expected to benefit from an increase in tourism traffic. Québec City saw a strong increase in overnight visits in 2018, thanks to a boost from hosting the G7 Summit, strong growth from the U.S. and overseas markets, and a strong local economy. Growth of around 2% in Quebec City tourism is expected to continue over the next few years.
