The Spring and Summer season long golden colour transitions to a bright red for it's fall foliage. The Dwarf Golden Barberry produces less fruits and seeds compared to other Japanese barberry cultivars. With the barberry being thorny, it is said to be deer resistent even though it is a fruit producer. This hardy shrub is also drought-tolerant and thrives in a middling amount of water.
