A hit among sweet lovers, Rasmalai can be described as flattened balls of cheese curds soaked in clotted cream and flavored with mango before being cooked in sugared milk and garnished with pistachios. An all-time favorite dessert originating from the Bengal region of the India, the name Rasmalai comes from two Bengali words: rōś, meaning "juice", and mālāi, meaning "cream". Rasmalai makes great desserts after lunch or dinner but can also be eaten as a snack between meals. Some people have also described it as a cheesecake without a crust.
