Axel Vervoordt has used his own hands to shape and fire a very special ceramic. As he explains: "My goal in creating these plates for ZARA was to make fifty personal and unique objects. Each plate is a unique creation that can never be replicated. The plates are square. The square shape is the first manifestation of a spiritual idea on Earth. The circular shape represents the cosmos. The circle (belonging to the cosmos) and the square (belonging to the Earth) unite with the Earth's clay and the human hand. The glaze comes from the ashes we obtain in the area, from the forest and park surrounding our home in Belgium."
