A faithful retelling of a traditional story from the Kugaaruk region of Nunavut, told by Elder Levi Illuitok. Many Inuit traditional stories have never been written down before. Many of the stories that we publish have never been written down before, having existed for centuries as tales passed orally from generation to generation. In this case, we have worked closely with the Elder to present this story to modern audiences around the world. This book provides a glimpse into Inuit culture and also represents the preservation of oral history that may otherwise have been lost.
