The Carrera Panamericana is a border-to-border sedan and sports car race on open roads in Mexico that originally raced from 1950 to 1954, then was revived in 2006 as a once-annual competition. It is widely known as the most dangerous race of any type in the world, as 27 competitors died racing during the first five years of competition.
